Meow friends, it’s Cosmo the Library Cat with news about all the fun activities for kids coming up this month at Grand County Public Library.
In memory of Susan “Rusty” Hendrick Wheaton
Rusty and her husband Bruce camped along the river, panned for gold, collected pinyon nuts and found all manner of ways to earn a living in Moab. Eventually, they bought the Entrada Ranch (now the Rio Mesa Center) and ran it as a small guest ranch, long before Moab became a sought-out destination.
In memory of Tyrandon Tom Farley
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens (2651 Spanish Valley Drive, Moab). A luncheon will follow the service at the Church of Christ (452 Emma Blvd, Moab).
In memory of Tatsy Guild
We have lost Tatsy’s physical presence but the gifts she bestowed on us will last. Our challenge is to pass those gifts along. Rest in peace, dear Tatsy.

Meeting at a Glance – Grand County Commission, April 15, 2025
The Grand County Commission’s April 15 meeting covered progress on the uranium tailings removal project, approval of 2026 event applications, and a contract to hire new county leadership. Commissioners also discussed protecting federal agency offices in Moab and introducing a fair reimbursement system for public infrastructure investments.
Today: Arches National Park’s Fiery Furnace reopens to visitors
Permits for self-guided hikers reopen today, April 15, and ranger-guided tours will follow on May 4, according to the park’s website.
In memory of Jaquelyn “Jacci” Weller
Moab became Jacci’s home where she continued her art, painting with acrylics. She was active in the local art community participating in the annual studio tours. She was a life-long environmentalist, writing articles defending the conservation of northern spotted owls and the protection of the natural spaces around Moab.
Opinion: “What kind of message is the Grand County Commission sending?”
“Laura Long is a citizen and a Planning Commissioner that cares about Moab and has done exactly what we should want from public servants: she’s informed, she’s engaged, and she speaks up. And I believe the Commission voted to request her resignation because of those qualities.”
